| What's a High Performance Team? |
|
Hello! Today, I’d like to talk about what a High Performance Team looks like. From the outside, HP teams look cohesive, operate smoothly and seem to possess a dynamic vitality that oozes energy, confidence and a “can do” attitude. We are all attracted to these qualities. In fact, we WANT to be part of a team like that. We want the energy and sense of purpose that a great team exudes. We also want to know WHY some teams are like that and some aren’t. After all, there are literally millions and millions of teams in the world operating on any given day. What makes some of them special? What makes some of them grab the headlines or rise to prominence in their industry or field of human endeavor? At Team Concepts, we are all about identifying EXACTLY what makes teams special and then letting YOU know how to create your own special team that will possess all of those qualities I listed above. We go through the process step by step. Why? Because it IS a process. There is nothing magical about it. I’m not saying that everyone can form a high performance team through their own leadership skills. What I am saying is that the process to do so is clear. Whether you elect to follow that process and do what is necessary to achieve the end is totally up to you. Having said that, we try to give to everyone exactly what they need, including the motivation, to do so. The first step is to know what you are looking for. EXACTLY what you are looking for. If you have ever been on a team, of any sort, where you have felt a true closeness with your team mates, a true subordination of your own ego to the greater good of the team, you are well on your way to knowing what to look for. If you have: 1. Been on a team where you WANT to work hard 2. Where difficult things seem easy to do 3. Where you feel valued and special to all members of the Team 4. Where you feel a sense of mission 5. Where you are passionate about what you do. Then you know what it is to look for in developing your own high performance team. Today’s point is very clear. You can’t form something if you don’t understand what it is you are looking for. So, go back over all of the teams you’ve ever been on. Think about those times when you felt the feelings I mentioned above. Write them down, look for commonalities. In the days to come, we will help you to define those things better and set you on the road to building a high performance team. |
